"pun" refers to a currently unfulfilled need for Genesis, Sephiroth, Angeal, and Zack fanfiction(or any combination of the four), that doesn't revolve around slashing them together.

I personally think I have the eloquency of a third grader.

After annoying my friends for days over my whining about lack of good fanfiction, and in contrast an overabundance of...things not to my taste(all due respect to those who prefer yaoi), I felt like I really needed to rant.

First of all, disclaimer: I AM IN NO WAY AGAINST LGBTQ. Through college, I've met a few AMAZING LGBTQ people, who are funny, interesting, lovable...I adore them, plain and simple.

But maaaaan. Can fandom develop more of a taste for gen fic please? Or at least het fic. Start from there if its too hard >>. I don't know how, but I've gotten so wrapped up in FFVII fandom the past week or so, and it's driven me up the wall(and down the next) trying to look for het(for certain characters), or even better well written gen fic for all.

Can anyone who reads this please answer me-why is fandom so obsessed over pairings? I love me my romance to awww and squee over once in a while, but at the end of the day, given that most of the series I watched/read/played: Ruroken, Naruto, Bleach, Inuyasha, DBZ, Wolf's Rain, FFVII(and its compilation), Kingdom hearts(and related)-given that these are SHONEN/ACTION ADVENTURE...one wonders why there is such a large fanbase if many jump at the chance to twist the relationships and interactions.

I applaud you all for your creativity(sometimes over creativity...NarutoxKyuubi...), but I would like to think there are points left for sticking somewhat closer to canon. At least...a LITTLE more often, please.

But if the plea for gen is too hard, can we start with more het please?
As one rant on slashing Genesis with his friends goes: "Just because Genesis is friends with two males DOES NOT (HAVE TO) MEAN that he is sexually in love with them".

I mean, isn't the idea of Sephiroth finally having friends and being so close to NORMAL as *squee* and *awww* worthy as the image of more yaoi pron?
